The Best Thing I Ate Today: Souplantation

When I was a kid, my idea of heaven was Sizzler. It was all-you-can-eat and there was a DIY sundae bar. What more could a person ask for?

Obviously, nothing's changed since those are all the same reasons I was jumping up and down with glee when I found a $14.99 coupon for two dinner and two drinks at Souplantation in my mail yesterday. Some people hate on the 'Tation, but they just lack imagination. Who can't appreciate a baked potato bar? Or eight different soups a night? And the dessert station. Ooooh, the dessert station. Come on, people! Get on the bus.

Coupon in hand, stretchy pants on, my BFF Mahdi and I struck out for the Beverly Connection tonight on a mission to show that salad bar who's the boss.

Plates loaded with Wonton Chicken Happiness Salad, their version of a Chinese chicken salad, Asiago Caesar and romaine and arugula dressed in a blue cheese and lemon dressing, tossed with dried cranberries and candied pecans, two Strawberry Lemonades and a hot slice of Pizza Bread. We were off to a good start.
Three Bean Turkey Chili with extra jalapenos alongside the Spicy Navajo Vegetable Soup, a lemon muffin and corn bread with honey and honey whipped butter came next.
And finally vanilla fro-yo and rainbow sprinkles over lemon lava cake which was the perfect blend of lemon bar, warm custard and cake.

By the time we were done, a wall of empty plates strewn around us, I was so stuffed I was breathing like a fat man going up stairs. And I can't wait to do it again very soon.

  1. Um, EXCUSE ME, but your idea of heaven should STILL be Sizzler. Underrated!!!! (I can get behind the occasional 'Plantation run, though.)
