Starving on our way to the Private Chefs of Beverly Hills premiere party last night, Mahdi and I stopped at California Chicken Cafe for an orgy of rotisserie goodness.
Woozy with hunger, the aroma of rosemary and garlic under crackling chicken skin on a spit greeted our entry and we both turned into Seymour from "Little Shop of Horrors."
Feed me!
We ordered the Chinese Wrap, a cold burrito of roast chicken breast, crispy Chinese noodles, carrots, lettuce, tomato, mayo and Cal Chick's ridiculously delicious, thick and sweet with hints of ginger, sesame and brown sugar, Chinese dressing($7) and the California Chicken Salad, a party of romaine, chicken, feta cheese, avocado, broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, croutons, and corkscrew pasta ($9.25).
We opted for the avocado on the side of the salad, since it's mushed up like guacamole and works better on top of the wrap. Feeling extra sassy, I poured sweet chili sauce over the avocado and smeared it on top of the Chinese Chicken. Divine!
Alternating bites of the crunchy, sweet and sour wrap, with the salt of feta tossed with a melange of fresh vegetables, I can't say which was the winner of the day but I'm so glad they both got to contend for the title.
